IONEX is KYMCO’s electric scooter brand—built on the philosophy of human-centered energy and seamless battery-swapping convenience. Designed to make green living effortless, IONEX combines KYMCO’s deep automotive legacy with smart innovation to bring emotionally resonant electric mobility to everyday life.


In October 2022, KYMCO hosted its annual press conference under the theme “Total Deployment,” unveiling six new electric scooter models and launching a comprehensive upgrade of the IONEX S series. The entire lineup joined the “3-second club,” offering acceleration and performance that set new benchmarks in the category.


From 2021 onward, Gremlin Works supported IONEX across every touchpoint—from product R&D support and brand positioning to UX design, digital campaign rollout, event execution, media production, and ecommerce-ready launch strategies.

WHAT WE Did

KYMCO already had a world-class foundation in vehicle design, after-sales service, and retail experience. Our goal was to bring that same excellence into the electric mobility era through a full-scale digital transformation.

We developed a cohesive digital image across all platforms, enabling IONEX to present a consistent, elevated brand identity online. By embedding interactive experiences into campaigns and touchpoints, we enhanced both the emotional and practical aspects of the consumer journey—aligning with the core philosophy:

Product Experience-Driven Web Design
Each model received a custom product page with dynamic storytelling and interactive UI elements. From specs and features to personality, positioning, and lifestyle messaging—every page was built as an immersive brand experience.
A comparison tool and guided journey allowed users to find the right vehicle based on performance, design, and usage preferences—enhancing engagement and conversion.

WHAT CHANGES DID WE MAKE

Flagship Model: S7R


The IONEX S7R, the brand’s flagship performance model, was promoted under the campaign “Challenge Your Limits.” Marketed as “The King of EV Acceleration,” the S7R was featured at major events including Taiwan’s “Beach Rider Festival” and the IONEX annual press launch.


To celebrate its racing DNA, KYMCO introduced a track-inspired commemorative edition, reinforcing the emotional connection with performance riders. Legendary stunt rider Mr. Yu Abe, a Guinness World Record holder, was invited to demonstrate the vehicle’s incredible acceleration and handling—setting a new standard for electric sport scooters.

THE CHALLENGES OF THIS PROJECT

This was a large-scale, multi-year initiative with parallel development tracks. From brand identity and product strategy to design, experience, storytelling, and system integration, multiple teams worked simultaneously across disciplines.


The biggest challenge was synchronizing all efforts to ensure that when each new model launched, it did so at its peak potential—perfectly timed, clearly positioned, and fully supported across platforms.


The result? A revitalized brand with a full digital backbone, market-ready messaging, and a growing footprint in both the EV and powersport spaces—IONEX is now positioned as a leading EV force both locally and globally.
